France: Prime Minister Jean Castex collects 51% of bad opinions, according to a poll

The results of a poll by the BVA institute for RTL radio and Orange revealed that over one out of two French people, or 51%, have a bad opinion of the Prime Minister, Jean Castex.

Increasingly unpopular

A survey by the BVA Institute for RTL radio and Orange, which was carried out from September 23rd to 24th, 2020, revealed that Jean Castex is becoming increasingly unpopular with the French. The Prime Minister collected 51% of bad opinions, i.e. +8 points compared to August, RTL reports.

After his appointment in early July, the head of government has benefited, last August, from some “goodwill” by respondents, as most of them did not know him, commented the polling institute.

Criticism of the Prime Minister

But in one month, good intentions about Jean Castex have dropped from 55% to 48%. Meanwhile, bad opinions have risen from 43% to 51%.

French people particularly criticise the Prime Minister for his “allegiance” to Emmanuel Macron and also for “communication blunders”. They conducted this opinion survey among a sample of 1,001 people aged 18 and over.
