Covid-19 in France: over 1,000 classes closed
A few weeks after the start of the school year, thousands of pupils are contaminated by the coronavirus in France. Over 1,000 classes have been closed.
Nearly 20 schools closed
According to the latest data from the French Education Ministry, which were stopped at midday on Thursday, September 24th, 1,152 classes were closed throughout France three weeks after the start of the school year because of the coronavirus. As reported in the newspaper 20 Minutes, 18 schools and 1 middle school are completely closed, including 5 in Île-de-France (Paris region) and 4 in New-Aquitaine (southwestern France).

The Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region (southeastern France) is the most affected since 215 classes have been closed there. It is followed by Hauts-de-France (northern France) at 199, Ile-de-France at 182 and Pays-de-la-Loire (western France) at 138.
Drops of water
In the last seven days, 5,612 students have been tested positive to the Covid-19 along with 1,153 teaching staff. The Ministry of National Education specifies each time, that this figure is only a few drops in the immensity of the educational landscape in France.

According to the Ministry, these over 5 600 pupils infected with the coronavirus represent only 0.05% of the total from nursery school to high school. Similarly, for the staff, they represent only 0.1%.
Regarding schools, only 0.03% of 61,500 are closed and 0.02% of 528,400 classes are closed. It should be noted that the total number of closed classes does not include the classes of closed schools, the newspaper states.
