France: a quarrel on social media ends in a brutal aggression
After an exchange of insults on the social media, two men ended up settling their dispute in the streets of Narbonne (Aude department, southern France). One of them was seriously injured by machete blows.
They insulted and threatened each other on social media
It all started with an argument on social networks. Two men living in Narbonne insulted and threatened each other behind their screens. On August 12, one of them found his vehicle burned. He immediately suspected his enemy of the virtual world.

Settling of scores with machete blows
The owner of the car (22 years old) then immediately went to the home of his rival (26 years old) in the Saint-Jean Saint-Pierre neighbourhood. Armed with a machete, he reportedly hit him with it several times, reports the regional daily newspaper La Dépêche du Midi. Seriously injured, the victim was given a 30-day total work incapacity.

The assailant is well known to the police authorities
After the incident, the attacker fled, but the police still arrested him the next day. He was known to the police and was taken into custody and detained. According to the investigation, the young man reportedly purchased his machete a few days before the attack.
