According to Tripadvisor, the “best restaurant in the world” is in France
The television channel France 3 Occitanie highlighted the work of Gilles Goujon. The latter has the best-rated restaurant on the famous Tripadvisor platform.
The trophy goes to France. According to the reports of France 3 Occitanie, it is in the Aude department that you will find the “best restaurant in the world”. And this is the opinion of Tripadvisor, the famous website where customers are invited to give their opinion once they have eaten in a restaurant.
The lucky winner is, therefore, Gilles Goujon. He is the owner of the restaurant L’Auberge du Vieux Puits in the town of Fontjoncouse. This three-star chef has been working there for 30 years. According to the ranking established by the platform’s users, he is ahead of La Ville Blanche, also a French restaurant in Rospez in the Côtes d’Armor department, and Le Chila, this time an Argentinean restaurant in Buenos Aires.
“It’s unbelievable! Our restaurant is at the far end of the pampas and we are in a world ranking”, commented the chef to France 3 Occitanie. It’s an entire team that was amazed when they heard about such a prize. “With my team, we sang ‘We are the champions’ as soon as we heard the news, we are delighted.”
A restaurant with well-filled plates and perfect hygiene
Various reasons are behind the consensus vote that crowned L’Auberge du Vieux Puits. Besides being “super nice” and accompanied by a “super team”, Gilles Goujon serves a menu that brought him a score of 4.5/5. On this menu, which ranges from roasted black pig to fillet of red mullet, his traditional cuisine convinced the customers.
Closed during the lockdown, the restaurant reopened on July 3. A late reopening to ensure that the restaurant’s forty employees were fully aware of the new health protocols to be followed strictly. To minimise contacts, they now remain at the same workstation throughout the service.
The reception area is protected by a plexiglass window and hand sanitizer is at disposal throughout the kitchen and the dining room. “We have prepared everything, but we try to keep the friendly side so that our customers have a good time,” says the chef to France 3 Occitanie.
